A three-dimensional multiplicative-regularized non-linear inversion algorithm for cross-well electro- magnetic and controlled-source electromagnetic applications

چکیده
We present three-dimensional inversion algorithms for inversion of cross-well electromagnetic and controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) data. The inversion is accomplished with a Gauss-Newton technique where the model parameters are forced to lie within their upper and lower bounds by means of a non-linear transformation procedure. The Jacobian is computed using an adjoint method. A line search method is employed to enforce a reduction of the cost function at each iteration. To improve the conditioning of the inversion problem, we use one of two different regularization schemes. The first is an L2-norm regularization scheme, which provides for a smooth solution. The second is the weighted L2-norm regularization scheme that can provide a sharp reconstructed image. The trade-off parameter that provides a relative weighting between the data and the model-constraint part of the cost function is determined automatically using the multiplicative regularized cost function to enhance the robustness of the method.

Imaging of Biomedical Data Using a Multiplicative Regularized Contrast Source Inversion Method
In this paper, the recently developed multiplicative regularized contrast source inversion method is applied to microwave biomedical applications. The inversion method is fully iterative and avoids solving any forward problem in each iterative step. In this way, the inverse scattering problem can efficiently be solved. Moreover, the recently developed multiplicative regularizer allows us to app...
متن کاملRapid three-dimensional inversion of multi-transmitter electromagnetic data using the spectral Lanczos decomposition method
In this paper, we develop a new method of three-dimensional (3-D) inversion of multi-transmitter electromagnetic data. We apply the spectral Lanczos decomposition method (SLDM) in the framework of the localized quasi-linear inversion introduced by Zhdanov and Tartaras (2002 Geophys. 1. Int. 148 506-19). The SLDM makes it possible to find the regularized solution of the ill-posed inverse problem...

In this work, an inversion algorithm is employed for obtaining a two-dimensional (2D) resistivity distribution (pixel-based) of the subsurface. Sev...

The marine controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) method has the potential of providing useful information in applications such as off-shore oil exploration. With a horizontal electric dipole as a transmitter towed by a ship and multi-component electromagnetic receivers on the seafloor, this method has been applied in several field surveys. The high contrast in resistivity between saline-fill...
متن کاملCross-well electromagnetic imaging in three dimensions
In this paper, we develop a new technique for 3D cross-well electromagne tic tomography, based on an EM borehole survey consisting of a moving vertical magnet ic dipole transmitter, located in one or several boreholes, and a tri-axial induction receiver, located in the other boreholes. The method is based on the LQL approximation for forward modelling, which results in a fast inversion scheme ....
